We came in by AVE from Madrid for a short visit and its a short taxi ride to and from the AC from the train station. Quick and easy with no need to get drive into the walled city. The hotel Is just across the street from one of the city gates so convenient for exploring the town.
The modern rusty exterior is different and gives the hotel a contemporary twist. Check-in is average, staff take their time and come across frosty and indifferent. The deluxe room is modern, business like and has a simple layout - front door opens into a sink/ and open wardrobe area, then you have a bath/wetroom shower combo room and a toilet on either side, then a sliding glass door is the partition from the sleeping area. The bedroom is a good size with enough room to fit a small leather chaise lounge as well as desk and chair. The room is well soundproofed and shaded from the sun and heat due to the exterior shell of the buidling. Air condition is npowerful and wifi signal strong. Minibar is complementary.
Cordoba itself I find generally underwhelming. The general mood of the place and its inhabitants is sleepy and jaded with tourism. It is expensive to enter the cathedral yet it did not look like any of the money has been spent of preserving the exterior. Inside there is a lack of exhibits or explaination about the cathedral or its history. Instead you have to hire a headset tour or if you were part of a group, a local tour guide. Cordorba is overated and takes its tourism for granted.
Other than that AC Marriot is good choice and value for money, especially when compared to the 2* Roomate Mario we stayed in Madrid.
