My wife and I have been interested in the German Bauhaus movement and wanted to visit Weimar where the movement had it's beginnings. We stayed at the Alt Weimar hotel during our stay.
When we first arrived at the hotel in early afternoon, our room wasn't ready, so we stored our bags with the reception and headed out to the main town area. When we returned later that afternoon, our room was ready and our luggage was placed in our room.
We had originally intended to eat that evening at the hotel restaurant, which we had read was quite good, but I had had a late afternoon snack of donner kebab, a lovely German-Turkish treat I'd grown to like on my previous trips to Germany, so at dinner time, I wasn't hungry for a large, extended course meal.
Germany had been experiencing a heat wave up until that evening, but a cold front with accompanying rain arrived, and it actually became quite cold. Having traveled from hot and drought-striken Texas the week before, we enjoyed the cool and wet weather. Our sleep that evening was quite delightful with the windows partially open and the comforters pulled up!
We headed out early in the morning, so we didn't partake of breakfast at the hotel.
All in all these accommodations were quaint, clean, and pleasant
