I recently stayed at this hotel and it was generally acceptable except for one thing: the internet. It had the worst paid internet service I have seen at any hotel. It was expensive, between about 11 and 16 Euros per 24 hours (regular internet and supposedly faster internet, respectively), usually was extremely slow or nonexistent and often didn't work at all in my room. Several times I had to go out to the hallway in order to connect.
I must say there was a free business center with 2 computers, which was generally occupied by kids on Facebook who cared nothing that an adult might need to use the computer for a minute or two to print a boarding pass, so was also completely useless.
If you need to stay connected, avoid this hotel.
We stayed her for three nights in April 2010. In every aspect a very good hotel. Location is a bit far from the centre of Weimar, but it is a nice walk through the park. Very nice bar with friendly staff. We enjoyed sitting there for drinks late at night, coming back from the town. Very good atmosphere.
Nice room with a pretty view, clean. Good amenities.
Only minuspoint was breakfast. It was a busy weekend, so it was a bit of a chaos, but I must say that they handled that very well. There were still some quiet tables in the back and they got everything in order for us in a jiffy.
I would certainly recommend this hotel and would not hesitate going there again in the future. One of the best hotels I know in Germany!
I was attending a wedding of a good friend and i booked this hotel in January 2011, when i arrived i was told at the reception that there was no King Size bed available and i told them i paid and booked the hotel room over four months ago! they said sorry we can just join the single beds for you!
Another friend who arrived and was staying alone got a double bed when she booked single. Plus another couple told us they had a similar issue and when housekeeping showed up to join the beds, the carpet was so dirty below with peanuts, etc, yuck!
They try to sell you everything from Breakfast at 10 Euro a person and Parking from 10 to 12 Euro a day plus Internet from 4.90 Euro an Hour! nothing is included in the price.
I recommend you take breakfast in the city center rather then the hotel.
Overall, very ppor service at reception, no customer orientation even if they made a mistake and they even didn't try to make up for not compling with my confirmed choice of room and paid well in advance.
We booked the hotel by phone directly from within Germany.
On arrival by car, we were faced with a parking lot asking for Euro 10 or more for one night, until a nice young man at the reception told us where we could park for free.
We very much enjoyed Weimar but with regard to the hotel, it did not seeem to be so much 4 Star.
E.g. the carpet in the room was full of stains, the entire bathroom was held in an old, beige colour, TV channels were very limited, coffey/tea making facilities (a standard service all over the world) are only for VIP room guest (!), so we were told, and some senior staff at the reception were too busy to be friendly or willing to serve us.
Basically, the entire hotel is run by interns - which they do reasonably well but this should not be the case.
The hotel is used at a conference hotel with lots of busy groups in attendance, also filling up the breakfast area during work days.
Although the location is nice next to Goethe Park, we would probably look for another place next time.
Oh, did I mention the cold water in the pool?
