The hotel is not in the center of Eisenach, rather it is on the outskirts, so having a car is definitely helpful. Unfortunately it has absolutely no character, but……….it is clean, it is inexpensive (comparatively), the breakfast buffet (10 Eu p/p, not included) of typical continental fare of boiled eggs, cold cuts, cheeses, breads, yogurts, cereals, scrambled eggs is decent. Rooms are your basic Danish laminate furniture (i.e. Ik_ _ , fill in the blanks), comforters, showers with combination soap/shampoo dispensers and fairly decent towels. We requested non smoking and the room did not smell of smoke. The receptionist spoke English, was friendly and was very helpful. It’s in a fairly good location to explore the immediate region. If looking for a romantic setting and an ‘old world’ hotel, then this is not the hotel you’d want to stay in, but, if looking for a basic, clean, inexpensive hotel, with free parking, then this is a good place to stay. My only complaint would be the ‘free’ internet which was limited to 40 minutes, after 40 minutes there’s a charge, plus, not all rooms had WiFi, so had to sit in the beakfast/lobby area to connect. It’s easy to find if traveling on Hwy 84, otherwise, it may take a bit of searching. If looking for a cheaper breakfast, or something to eat in the afternoon, there’s a small mall when turning back onto Hwy 84, go left, about 1.5 km, take a right at the roundabout. A grocery store, bakery, and a few fast food type places in the mall.
