Schleswig was a surprisingly wonderful stop on our trip. The town has the Viking town of Hedeby (Haitabu), some Viking long ships, bog people, modern art, a history museum, a fishermen's village, fine cathedral with stunning wood carved altarpiece and a yacht harbor. This hotel is right on the harbor. The food was excellent at breakfast and at dinner and the staff was very, very kind and helpful. The rooms were very nice, though a bit on the "shabby chic" side. It was an easy walk to the cathedral, town center, and fishermen's village. This was the least expensive hotel on our trip and it provided some of the best experiences.
