“Very comfortable, clean & friendly hotel”

Just back from a 3 night stay to visit the Christmas market. The hotel in just 50 metres from the main bus station, maybe 150m from the train station so very conveniently located, and is only 5-10mins walk to the Holstentor and the start of the city sights.
We were allocated a family room on the ground floor, which was very large, with double bed, en suite bath and separate shower, plus a sofa bed and chairs. Our friends had a normal double room, which was smaller but still comfortably sized for 2 people, with a small desk and 3 chairs. Everything was clean and spotless and the ensuites looked new.
Breakfast was good with wide choice of meats, cheeses, bread and cakes as well as cereals. Boiled eggs were popular and went quickly but we just asked and were served with freshly cooked ones within 10 mins. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lubeck info:- At airport No 6 bus stop is across car park and to the right (no signs we had to ask - ignore the Hamburg bus), buses are 3 an hour, journey time 20-25mins, cost €2.50. We bought a 3 day Happyday card, and went to Travemunde ( No 30 or 40 bus ) and walked the beach and watched a ferry from Finland arrive - a nice morning out. The card also gives discounts at most museums and for St Petri's church tower viewing platform, and it included the bus travel back to the airport, so was good value.

“Nice comfy hotel”

The only hotel in 8 weeks of touring Europe did the owner/manager ask if he could carry our bags up the stairs to our room. New bathroom with plenty of towels, soap, and shampoo. Beds and pillows were clean and comfortable. Just outside our room we had a shared deck with tables and chairs, which overlooked the neighbors' gardens. Breakfast consisted of cereals, breads, cheeses, meats, hot scrambled eggs, spreads, fish and hot coffee. Free LAN in our room.

“If you are on a budget”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2009

If you are on a budget, this is a good stay. It´s clean, it's quite spacious and most of all it´s cheap. We stayed for one night only, but for a one night stay it was perfect. Clean, spacey and close to the old town, just outside of the city wall. We had the luck of getting the hotel's only in door parking space, and although it took three people to park the car (it was an amazingly small garage) it was convenient. If you are going by bus or train is equally convernient as it's just across the street. Breakfast was decent, but no more. You get what you pay for, but the up side here is that you get a bonus - a very good location! On a budget, I would definitively stay here again for a night or two!

“Clean and Simple”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2009

At it's price range, I though the Baltic was above-average.

The rooms were very clean, the beds comfortable if a bit firm, and the bathroom was modern and nicely designed. It had ample hot water, great water pressure in the shower, a fan in the room, and a small TV. The buffet breakfast was simple and excellent with a wide assortment of German meats, cheeses, fruits, and yogurts. Service was friendly and helpful and laid back. For example, when I asked what time check out was, I was told "11... 11:30... there is no hurry." All of the staff we dealt with spoke enough English to get by and one gentleman spoke excellent English and was extremely helpful with directions.

The hotel is just outside the "island" of Lubeck -- maybe a 10 minute walk to the castle gate. The bus and train stations were very close by. We drove to Lubeck and found free parking in front of the hotel, although there weren't many spots.

We were travelling with a small dog. The hotel accepted pets without any additional charge or questions. Our dog is allergic to dust and slept fine in the room -- a good indication of cleanliness!

Pros: Great breakfast, very clean, comfortable, friendly staff, decent location.
Cons: No elevator, no frills rooms

located in a functional place, the baltic hotel offers visitors a comfortable experience. its staff, even though unable to speak one word of english, are very welcoming and friendly. breakfast was pleasant (candle-lit) and there was a good variety of things to eat. the bedroom and bathroom were spotless and there was no noise from the road or bus station opposite. excellent value for money.
