As a preliminary remark, my stay was neither business nor leisure. I do wish the travel trade would get rid of this distinction.

The hotel is well situated between the station and the old town (although I must say I was disappointed by the old town, with the famous old buildings surrounded by uninspiring shops and undistinguished architecture). Access and exit by car via the nearby roundabout is relatively easy, and I arrived early enough to secure a free parking place in front of the hotel.

Although the building is traditional, my room was newly-done up, with new decor, new furniture and furnishings, and a new shower room. The sound-proofing of the new windows was effective.

The breakfast was fine, and all the staff were attentive and friendly.

The hotel was a good taxi ride from the airport but only cost 15 Euros so a very convenient location, not only that but is close to the town centre, opposite the bus station and train station. The breakfasts were very good with plenty of food available with a good range. The hotel lacked a bar atmopshere but you could sit in one of the lounges with a beer in the evening. The staff at the hotel had a good understanding of English and were only to pleased to help. The rooms were good and clean. A good hotel.

We stayed here for one night in September. The Excelsior has a convenient location across from the Railway Station, and they offer free outdoor parking to their guests. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the Altstadt.

The room was large and quiet. Good value for your money. A triple room including breakfast cost roughly 130 Euros.
