“Enjoyable short stay in an excellent hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2010

We stayed at the Ringhotel Jensen for 1 night after 3 nights in Hamburg. The hotel is in an ideal location situated just across the bridge in the old city centre of Lubeck - a 10-15 minute walk from the train and bus stations. The hotel rooms are clean and modern. Breakfast is a cold buffet with a good variety of food. The receptionist was extremely helpful with details of sites to visit in the centre and also the bus service to Lubeck Airport.
We would definitely recommend this hotel.

“Charming family run hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2009

Stayed here on December 13th & 14th after 1 night in Hamburg. Short walk from Lubeck rail station going through the city gates (Holstentoor) before seeing the canal-side hotel on the right. Immediately impressed with the service at check-in, with a local map provided and advice given on where the Christamas markets were located.

Room (312 - I think) had a really good view, overlooking the Holstentoor and the canal. The room is somewhat old-fashioned but very clean and quiet, with a spacious functional bathroom. Beds were 2 x singles some way apart, but very comfortable and with good linen. Nice touch was 2 Christmas chocolate figures with a welcome note. This was exceeded the next day with a gift of chocolates 'from the Jensen gang' to my wife who was celebrating her birthday.

Breakfast was standard continental and everything was fresh. Again the service was spot-on, ensuring tables were cleared quickly to allow incoming guests to be seated imemdiately. The hotel also has a very good looking 'traditional' restaurant which seemed very popular with the locals. We didn't eat there but the food looked very good indeed (based on a passing glimpse).

Lubeck is very charming with the old town enclosed by a canal. The markets were not as impressive as Hamburg, but very friendly (and cheaper). There are not that many bars, but I'd recommend the Brauberger (on Alfstrasse), the Im Alten Zolln (on Muhlenstrasse) and Paulaners (on Breite Strasse - also had a huge dinner there, very good indeed). We also eat at an Italian just around the corner from the hotel (have lost the card unfortunately) and that also was very very impressive

The level of service continued through to check-out for an early flight back to Stansted where coffee was offered for the taxi ride. The receptionist was very friendly and left a lasting impression on us as we headed home. A charming 'traditional' hotel which is a must if you are staying in Lubeck.

“An average hotel with a good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 March 2009

The location in the outskirts of the old city along the canal is this hotel’s best asset. Ringhotel Jensen is like many other hotels in Germany decent with good service, but with a 70ish interior which should have been renovated. The common rooms were OK, but the room was a bit trifled. The breakfast was pretty good. Our stay here was all right, but I will probably forget this hotel pretty soon.

“Luxyryhotel with low price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2008

We booked the hotel by calling and afterwards looked the websites. Then we noticed that it was a very luxurious hotel. The familyroom was a little bit small. Two of the three children of ours had to share a bed but it was still more pros in the hotel.
Location and breakfast were good.

“If you can get a discount, it is worth staying here.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2008

We stayed at the Ringshotel Jensen for a weekend break. Since it was January, we were able to get a slight discount by booking directly. When we first arrived, we were given a very small room on the fourth floor that faced the river and street. Since it seemed like it might not be that quiet, we moved to the rear of the hotel. While it did not have a view, the room was much larger.

Overall, the hotel provides good service, breakfast is a good selection of breads, fruit, local meats and drinks. Our room was quiet and clean. But I would not recommend their restaurant, since we found the food boring and not the best service. There are several others, such as the two at the Radisson SAS, that are much better. While I would recommend the hotel, just so you know, you get what you pay for.
