My mother and I reserved a twin room at this hotel for a family party through ebookers but the hotel had allocated a double which was unacceptable. The eventual solution was that we had to pay for a second room in order to secure the separate beds booked. The failure to honour the reservation and the way in which it was dealt with by the unfriendly staff ruined our weekend. The rooms that we were eventually allocated were dark, small and dated.

On the plus side the hotel is in a good location and the breakfast is excellent.

A good hotel with lift and small reception area. The rooms were nice and the breakfast room was bright and spacous. The breakfast menue was very good. All receptionists spoke very good English. And were helpful when asked to book restaurants and Taxis.
This hotel is in the very centre of Lubeck and less than 10 minutes walk from the train station where amongst others you can take a trip to the centre of Hamburg. Only very small gripe was that the small bar in the hotel wasn't open. I mention small gripe because there are lots of nice bars nearby. I would recommend it.

Alta Speicher has an excellent location. But the reception area, the dining room, and the bedroom were all drab and less than clean. The decor was 1970s - the room looked ready for a re-do. The rates were 30% more (with breakfast) than at another hotel in its class (the Excelsior) and the staff wasn't nearly as helpful. Skip this one.
