Have just returned from a 3 day break to Lubeck. The town is great, with wonderful architecture, churches and the seasonal Christmas markets. Stayed in Travemunde, which is 20 minutes by train from Lubeck at the Maritim Strandhotel and thought it was excellent value for money. The rooms were modern,spacious, very clean and we had a fabulous view of the harbour. The staff were helpful and very courteous. The buffet ( both evening and breakfast ) offered a fantastic choice of well presented food. We would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is a real landmark. With 35 floors this tower can be seen from a far distance, as there is no building as high as this one within miles around. Only parts of the building are hotelrooms - located between the floors 4 and 13. All have a balcony and the views are great from each floor anyway. We stayed in 819, which is a corner room overlooking the bay area and the beach. The balcony was really large and and with floor to ceiling windows at all outside facing walls you can't expect more to see. The hotel also has a restaurant for breakfast and dinner, a pub, a bar and a great rooftop cafe. This can only be reached by a seperate elevator and is on the 35th floor. The views are outstanding and unique as there is no other place like that in that area. Service and the quality of food and drinks were above the 4 star standard. All staff a friendly and try their best to make you feel comfortable. We will come back.
