Nice clean room in a conveniently located hotel. Parking was covered and nearby. Receptionist was very helpful for finding sites and recommending best/scenic routes. Another receptionist didn't speak English and took the time to invite me around the counter so we could type on the online translator to each other and solve my problem. I didn't have internet in my room and they called in a technician who fixed the problem within 24 hours. Less than one block from center walkplatz and international ferry. Yes, it is in a red light district but the prostitutes are not out on the sidewalk or anything; there are just some neon signs at the end of the street. There is a man working for the breakfast who is very rude but apparently he is an icon at the hotel and everyone thinks he is funny. Just ignore him. I would stay here again.

Thanks to my girlfriend attitude in searching for nice hotel on internet, I have chosen this hotel where I spent four weeks.

The location is ok. The old city is not really noisy, but still you can find nice restaurants. If you travel with family, be aware that at the end of the street there is the red light district, but it doesn't look so bleak.

The hotel is not so big, but very very nice and clean. The rooms (I slept in four different rooms) are all "Swedish" style and extremely clean and new. They all have LCD tv and there are two WLAN routers available (in the forth floor the signal is too low).

The breakfast is minimal but sufficient. As Italian, I am used to have only sweet breakfast and they could improve the variety, but I could deal with that. The breakfast room has just been renewed (middle of March 2010) and quite nice.

Because I mention my willing to spend a long time in this hotel, I could get a quite convenient price per night. In general, the owner and the employees were really friendly and always willing to help.

Summarizing. I do totally recommend this hotel.

I have never been to Iran, but from what I see on the news, I imagine this hotel gives us an insight into just how ridiculous it is. The manager here has no respect for his clients, his arrogance is funny it's so bad, and customers are treated like children having to follow to house rules made up on the spot!

For unfortunate reasons, I have now twice found myself in this excuse for a hotel. In addition to having to be "thankful" that the hotel let me stay, I also had to contend with being located in the middle of the red-light district, surrounded by three brothels. Luckily, there will not be a third visit!!

If the owner ever decides that he is the manager of a hotel and not a religious dictator, he may be able to turn this place around. However, for the moment, of your standards are low, and you are the type of person who likes to deal with robotic staff and an obnoxious owner, then this is the place for you. However, if you like to be treated as an adult and with respect, then stay elsewhere. Kiel is full of hotels who would love to have your business.
