As you can see, the photos I took of my actual room looks nothing like the rooms they show on website. Parking they offered me is not actually at the hotel either, but at Karstadt somewhere else. Safe and ok when you find it, and lucky for me I speak some german. Gate was not open, and had to call central to get in. Apparently you can order one of few places at hotel beforehand, but I guess you have to call for this.
Have stayed at Conti Hansa for a fraction more, and recommend this. At Conti Hansa you will sleep so well that you can get up in time to enjoy the breakfast, and the towels are so thick that Astors seem like greyish napkins.
But beauty is not all. Hotels main task is to provide a good nights sleep. Astor did not that either.
I got an ugly, noisy and hot room - and the only thing three stars was the price. The whole thing remined me of my stays in dingy parts of the former soviet union.. with the cheap wood, hot air, toilet paper on wc for the lack of holder, curtain partly not hanging up, colour combinations of browns, stains and blue, and dusty small box TV with half of the channels in German, the other half a blizzard of static.
Room on the 8th floor of the Astor. Faced heavily trafficked street, and also something that sounded like some metal works. Opened window for a gasp of fresh air, just to be deafened. After closing window, air hottened to the unbearable in minutes. So during the night i got up to change between discomforts a few times.
Cheap wooden door to hall made me part of other peoples conversations, argues and so on at any time of day.
So, in short, choose a different hotel. Good part: People nice, spoke english. Bar on tenth floor with views of town.
