At first glance this might be taken for a smallish, privately run hotel in a park-like setting. However, it it neither very small nor private being part of the continental Romantik hotel group. The service standared however are what many larger chains aspire to and it deserves its place at the top of the Trip Advisor ratings.
The rooms and clearly variable in size - one of our two rooms was fairly large and the other small but both were clean and comfortable and in range of free WiFi. The grounds, overlooking the harbour from the bottom of the garden were well kept and contained an interesting display of African sculptures which were for sale. There was an ample free car park (large conferences are held) and a small spa and indoor pool.
The hotel also has a small but high quality restaurant where the food is well cooked and presented by friendly and attentive staff. Choice is reasonable and the wine prices not excessive. The buffet breakfast can only be described as excellent having a very wide choice of food and drink. The yacht marina is a short walk down the hill from the hotel, where it is possible to walk either into town or north towards the locks along a promenade running at the side of the Kieler Forde. A trip to the North Sea Canal entrance perhaps needs transport.
This is a very nice hotel which, if one is visiting this area is well worth a visit.
