IC hotels are near rail way stations or inside them, i like staying there ever since i stayed at Ic at Wuppertal years ago. They have nice clean rooms, excellent breakfasts, they're usually close to center and sometimes, like here, they have a nice view. very professional staff, and high standard for a mid-range chain hotel.

I stayed it this hotel for nearly seven weeks, it’s in a good location beside the railway station, the rooms are very small, the bed is very basic and the room that I stayed in only had a shower. There was a fridge in the room that you could use. There was no kettle in my room, but if you ask at reception they can lend you one, if they have not all been borrowed I think they only have a few of them. I was staying in a room at the front of the hotel and it looks out onto the harbour area even so the room was peaceful. If you wanted to watch TV the only English Channel that I could view was the BBC world news service. The breakfast had quite a good selection of food and some mornings they even had a chocolate fountain with fresh fruit to dip into the chocolate. There are lot’s of cafés within a short walk from the hotel and the ones in the railway station are good too. The reception staff gave me a card that I could use for free transport on the public bus system in Kiel.

My partner and I stayed here for one night in May before catching the Color Line ferry to Oslo. The location was perfect - right next to the train station and walking distance to the ferry terminal (over a pedestrian bridge across the harbour). The hotel accommodation is pretty basic, but clean. The bed was not especially comfortable, but the bathroom was spacious. Our room overlooked a car park, and unfortunately caught a lot of afternoon soon, so without air conditioning, was quite stuffy and warm. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The best aspect of this hotel, apart from its location, was the view from the breakfast room over the harbour as the Oslo ferry docked outside.

This is a standard low budget hotel. You really get what you pay. Small, dated rooms, no view, bad mattress and noisy rooms. Service is very friendly, and there is the food court from the train station next door. No business center, so unless you brought your laptop, you will need to find an internet cafe fast while in Kiehl. This hotel is right by the train station, bus terminal and port passenger terminal. Lots of Danish tourist that take the ferry to kiel chose this hotel due to its convenient location, however they do tend to be noisy neighbors. I will certainly search more carefully for a hotel next time.
