I stayed in the Hotel Kieler Yacht Club for a few days last year on a business trip. Price-wise it was on the upper end of my travel policy, but I got a good rate for the week. The room was rather small and simple. And my view was not nice either, as my room faced the parking lot. On a rational level, this is not a good deal.
However, I enjoyed my breakfast greatly as you have a really nice view on the marina. And I enjoyed walking to work along the Förde. It is a 10 to 15min walk to the old market. Emotionally, I appreciated my stay.
Since last year they did massive construction work. The hotel was closed from winter last year until recently. The part of the building where my room was situated was torn down. This way I cannot tell you how good the rooms actually are. I do believe that major changes were due, as the hotel tries to be upper scale. The location alone does not suffice.
