We had a great stay here over Easter. Leipzig is a good base not just for its own amenities, but good rail and road connections. We visited Dresden, Wittenberg, Weimar and Erfurt by train, and the Harz mountains and Dessau by car.

The hotel is just off a fairly main road with lots of modestly priced restaurants etc, but we found it quiet and restful. Two tram lines are within easy reach, and the short journey tickets are valid for trips to the centre and/or the main station.

Breakfast was wide-ranging, but rather expensive at €9.50 per person - good alternatives for half the price or less are within walking distance.

I always thought that German hotels are spotless, but this hotel showed me that I was wrong. Not that our room was dusty, but the bathroom, cleaning wise, left a lot to be desired. The other thing you should consider is the curtains. They are so thin and translucent that someone may need a sleeping mask. On the other hand, the hotel is surrounded by a wide selection of restaurants, it's not far from the city centre and the staff on th front desk is professional, quite attentive and helpful.

Great little hotel. Close to Straßenbahn, good public transportation, but also within a longer walking distance of city center. Wonderful breakfast and friendly staff. I attended a conference in Leipzig and this hotel was booked for me. It was also a little more than a week after I got married so the trip was both business & honeymoon. Would recommend for either.

I'm writing this review from a top-floor room at the Markgraf, overlooking a lovely tree-filled square.

The hotel is super-clean, modern, efficient and great value. The room is easily nice enough to spend time in - airy, with an ample-sized desk, free wi-fi and minibar/fridge. The staff are super-helpful and positive.

The location is a quite side-street in Leipzig's cool and cultural south side of the city - which, if you're at all arty, musical, and/or into boho bars and clubs, is where you want to be. It's only a short hop by tram to the city centre anyway. Note that trams 10 and 11 go direct from the central train station to within 5 minutes walk to the hotel (alight at Sudplatz).

I couldn't recommend this place highly enough.
