I stayed at the Sachsenpark for three nights in May for pentecost, which is a three day weekend in Germany. I chose the hotel based on rate and reviews, and for that matter I have nothing but praise for the Sachsenpark hotel. The room was spaceous and clean. The décor being somewhat slightly over the top 90's style, everything was very well maintained and seemed like new. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There was a problem with the WiFi, and they fixed it within minutes. The breakfast buffet was excellent...probably better than what some five-star-hotels have to offer. There again servers were very friendly and attentive.
The only downside to the Sachsenpark hotel is the location. I is just off the A14 Autobahn adjacent to the CCL convention center and the Sachsenpark shopping center. This being a long weekend with shops closed, the area was dead...there might have been tumbleweeds rolling down the street. The only establishment open for business was the McDonalds accross the street. There is a tram stop about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Line 16 will take you into town within 20 minutes. By car it is a 15 minute drive to the city center. But still, unless you are on business in that part of town, you might want to consider a location with more urban atmosphere. Other than that Sachsenpark hotel is an excellent deal.
