You have to be aware that hotels in Europe can vary widely. If you are used to staying in true 3, 4 or 5 star hotels then the Ramada Leipzig would rank at about 2.5 The reason for this is simple, they don't really put much thought into guest convenience and comfort. The beds are marginal at best, no coffee makers with tea and coffee in the room, no alarm clocks, spotty wifi and they often shut off access to the thermostat in your room, so if you feel a bit chilly and want a blast of heat, as long as they don't think heat is necessary, you will be out of luck(although not unusual for Europe). There is no way to securely lock your room from inside. There is no deadbolt or chain. If someone accidentally has a key to your room, you can't prevent them from opening the door. It's almost as though they refuse to allow the guest to have the last say as to who enters the room. (This again is very typical in Europe) The rooms are small with basic table top t.v. with only a few channels in English (one movie channel, 3 news channels) The staff here are fairly nice, although some of them can be moody and uninterested in providing basic customer service. The bar staff become easily overwhelmed when there are more than just a few people in the bar requiring attention. There is one girl who works at the bar who simply refuses to smile. Ever. She always seems annoyed anytime someone needs to make an order. It just makes the visit that less comfortable.
The hotel is located about 15 minutes from the City Center. You can access the city center via tram which is located on the other side of the shopping mall across the street from the hotel.
I must give credit to those members of the staff who do go above and beyond to accommodate the guests. Their effort is certainly appreciated. Unfortunately, due to poor hotel planning and management, this hotel falls way short in providing adequate comfort and convenience to guests who expect more.
