This hotel is really well located--close to the train station, downtown, museums and restaurants. The rooms are very nice and good value for the price. The breakfast had a nice selection.

The desk staff was mildly incompetent. We arrived a day late (due to train problems) but called to tell them so they wouldn't cancel our room. They said no problem. When we arrived the next day, they couldn't find our reservation. After at least 20 minutes and a couple of phone calls they found it and we put our stuff in the room. Later, when we came back, there was a note posted in the elevator for us to come to the front desk. We stopped by our room first, but there were other people in it (!) Went back to the front desk, where they told us they'd accidentally given us the wrong room. They'd moved all our stuff to a different (but almost exactly the same) room while we were out.

I visited this hotel after booking through Deutsche Bahn. This was on a day when the weather was up to 37 degrees (99 fahrenheit). There was no climate control and the room was on the sunny side of the building. It was about 40 degrees in the room and after 30 minutes and two cold showers, I felt sick and short of breath and gave up. I spent less than an hour in the room and they actually charged me for the whole night. These people are THIEVES! They probably turn over these rooms several times a day when it is this hot. Do yourself a favor, spend a few more euros and stay next door at the beautiful Marriott! These people don't deserve your money!

To my surprise the Royal International is as yet not included in the premier choices for Leipzig. The location is fantastic, 200 m across the railway station and around the corner of many of the city‘s highlights. Rooms combine the facilities of a hotel and an apartment. It is not my habit to comment on breakfast, at this place it fully deserves the description royal. Berlin, Dresden and Weimar are all within easy reach from Leipzig, by train or car. It allows for a look at a few remnants of the second world war, abundant traces of the former DDR as well as overall today’s modern and impressive Germany. At a centre of history, a luxurious hotel at a bargain rate.

I recommend the Royal International Hotel.

Hotel rooms in Europe are always hit and miss, no matter the Star Rating.

I had a street side (facing the train station) room, but with the windows closed the noise was minimal. Likely a problem in summer months. A/C in European hotels is always hit-n-miss too; with miss the more likely case.

Staff was very friendly. When you are in eastern Germany, you have to allow that Russian was the second language of choice. But English is spoken by all under 30.
