If you want to stay in an affordable hotel in the city of Leipzig, I advice you to stay in this hotel because it is clean (no animals allowed), properly maintained, and has an amazingly hospitable, welcoming and helpful staff. Although the staff members are young (maybe too young), they did a really good job. The hotel is historical, tidy, simple, calm and serene and it is very close to the train station, the Promenaden (shopping center), the down town, other historical sites and many other important and interesting places. Also, they have a GREAT complimentary breakfast buffet! I'd definitely stay at this hotel again!

OK, if you are looking for a cheap dorm room near the main railway station, this is probably a good bet. But the 'hotel' rooms here are awful. I stayed in a single room which was hot and airless, and worse, extremely dirty. The layer of grime and dust on the table was disgusting. And the biggest insult was that it cost €57! It is possibly worth €20 per night but no more. There are very, very many better options in Leipzig. Avoid, unless you are a group of 10 penniless teenagers.

I was kind of dreading this place, but the location across from the train station sold me over higher-rated accommodation on this city's fringes. But this is better than just location. It's both a hostel and hotel, with organizational values more clearly on the hostel side of the equation--bus your own breakfast table, for instance. But the hotel rooms are cleaner and more comfortable than the two-star sign at the store suggest, and the young staff speaks perfect English and is even willing to entertain loquacious foreign travelers. Prices were awesome when I booked (€40 single in a double room), and the location--across from the train and 20 mins walk from most major sites make a good difference.

This hotel/hostel was a super deal for me. Just steps from the Hauptbahnhof, it is in a lovely heritage building. The rooms are simple but mine had lovely high ceilings and a huge window. The room was spotless, the included breakfast was adequate and the staff good.
