“Average hotel in Dresden”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

person found this review helpful

The NH Dresden is a average hotel.

Rooms are in typical NH low standard "style".

Location is quite a bit outside of the city center and pretty bad;
either you walk a mile and take the train for 3 Euros per Person
or you take a taxi to the city with costs around 6 Euros per way.
But be aware outside of the high season there are not so many taxis in Dresden, and the most are lining up at the airport. So its sometimes difficult to catch one for your way back.

The bed was pretty hard and not comfy.

Staff was friendly and helpful.

Breakfast: Good and wide selection but expensive: 16 Euros per person
There is only a drawback there: The coffee is in a jug on the table and not replaced after guests. Most likely, you will find some stale, cold coffee and have to first catch a waiter (not that easy) to bring you fresh coffee. For 16 Euros per Person a fresh coffee for every guest should be a minimum level of service.

Room Service: 3 Dishes (Burger, Clubsandwich and Soup) to choose from, expensive plus an additional 5 Euros tray charge.

(The McDonalds on the opposite side of the hotel might be a better option, you get there for 5 Euros a complete meal)

Internet: horrible and expensive: 24h= 10 Euros for the Economy package, which is slow and limited or 18 Euros for only slightly faster and unlimited Internet.

Tipp: When arriving or leaving by train take the Station "Dresden Neumarkt" instead of Dresden HBF(Main Station) there are taxis as well and it`s a lot closer...a lot of trains as well ICE high speed trains stop there on its way to Dresden.

“very nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

stayed for four nights about a 400m walk from the tram with large suitcase clould be a problem. a tram runs right in front of hotel but you have to change once it takes longer but hotel gives directions on other tram with no changes and a 400m walk. staff very helpful and friendly with directions and tickets like the dresden card room was big i always try to get top floor, A/C was working good and windows opened to street and i had a nice view of the city.this hotel is alittleout of way but cheaper than staying in old town so it is good option. did not get the breakfast it seemed a bit high at 16 euros so i went to the fast food right around the corner. supermarket about 3 blocks down main street really nothing else around. would stay again if i return to dresden a wonderful city

Room Tip: try for the top floor

“Very good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

You're probably in Dresden for a short city trip (hopefully including an opera experience)..and you want to spend more on 'experience' than on plain-old-accommodation.. but ofc, you don't want it to be a shady hostel either. This hotel is a great way to enjoy the hotel luxury without paying through your nose. Well connected by public transport, you can reach the city centre in a matter of few mins. The staff is very professional too. If you want to save on breakfast, there's a McCafe just opposite the hotel. Very beautiful interiors. You surely won't regret this!

“Not that great if you want a good night's sleep”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2011

None of us could find away to control the temperature in the room. Had to sleep with the window open, and had a lot of street noise to deal with.

Pillow were very flat and had feathers that would poke you, had to use 2 pillow to sleep on.

Rooms are large for Europe, and the breakfast choice is extensive. You will likely be able to find something you like at it.

Desk staff spoke excellent english.
