“Average or even lower!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

I selected this hotel based on the reviews, but unfortunately they don't reflect the reality.
- receptionist barely speak English
- reception literally close at night and if you have a problem you need to wait untill next day
- heater was not good/big enough to warm up the room
- i bet it is not usual, but room service didn't show up and when I arrived back to hotel after a long day it was the same way I left

- breakfast is delicious at a cost of €12
- parking is free

Do not recommend. Much better options in town.

Now, it is up to you!

“Quiet, close to the river, clean”

The Prinz Eugen is one block away from the perfect bakery right on the Elba river. Skip breakfast at the hotel, and go sit in the sun by the river--you are almost in the country. Or walk a block the other way and catch the tram to Old City Dresden.

The hotel is in a nice neighborhood, the staff are very helpful, our room was clean and large. It was wonderful to get out of the touristy center.

“Quiet location less than 5 mins walk from River Elbe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

As previously mentioned the hotel is 30 mins by tram from the City Centre which wasn't a problem for us.

Our room was large with a separate kitchen area;minibar , which was replenished daily ,(free) comprised 1 beer,1 coke,1 apple juice and 2 waters.)

Only minus re the room was the size of the bathroom which is very small and only has a shower.

Breakfast is 12 euros; it's served in a lovely room and offers a reasonable although not extensive selection.

Location is quiet but only 5/10 mins walk from Oesterischisher Strasse where Rossman,Netto,Lidl, Konsum and a full range of other shops is available.

Bikes can be hired from a nearby bike shop for 7 euros a day and can be ridden along the Elberadweg in either direction.

“Quiet place to stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

The service was all right, and the room size quite big and well equipped. Also I had an full kitchen, I had no any problem with the service. I liked the clean and new bathroom, big TV, silence. It is hard to find a hotel where I can sleep good, this one is definitely one of those. The only problem is the Wi-fi access. The signal is low, and also I had to ask access 4 times in 5 days. Anyway, I will return here next time.

“Hidden treasure - totally recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2011

This is an inexpensive hotel located in a quiet residential neighbourhood. It does not look like much from the outside and the inside is definitely not stunning aesthetically. Except for that, there are only pros. Starting with the rates – they are just unbelievably low in comparison to what other hotels in Dresden charge. What’s more – you pay reasonable money and you get a very good service! That does not happen often, does it? I can honestly say that our double room in Prinz Eugen was the cleanest room I ever stayed in. The bathroom was just spotless and was kept so throughout our stay by the hotel staff. The room was enormous and equipped with everything we might need (TV, radio, phone, mini bar, spacious wardrobe, safe box, large and comfortable double bed and a lot of those little hotel things that make your life easier during travel, like a sewing kit, shoe polishing tissues, short city guide etc.). Even though not everyone was a fluent English speaker, the staff was friendly and definitely helpful – geil! As for the out-of-the city centre-location, it proved to be an advantage: the tram station is literally 3 minutes away from Prinz Eugen, trams going to the centre leave every 10 minutes (the breaks are longer in evenings and on weekends) and the tram trip serves as a substitute to the red city tour buses, as you get to see a lot of places (and meet the locals!) on your way. The trip time to Theaterplatz, a central stop, is about 30 minutes. A single ticket is 2 euro but we used a family ticket (for 2 people, 1 day) for 7 euro more often. You can buy the tickets in the hotel, on every tram (the machine accepts coins only) and at most tram stops. We used trams also at night, as we enjoyed the Dresden nightlife and we felt safe at all times. And last but not least, the hotel has its own car park which you get to use for free – contrary to the hotels in the centre, charging a daily fee. Overall, I really recommend Prinz Eugen to everyone who wants to pay decent money and be surprised how much one can get for that.
