We stayed at the Hotel Lindenhof (aka Euroring Hotel Lindenhof) in the fall of 2004. We picked the hotel because it's cheaper to stay outside of downtown Dresen, and to avoid the hassle of driving in the city. The hotel was quite easy to find, once we had bought a very very detailed map. The price was great, the room spacious and clean, the breakfast buffet was great, as was the staff. The hotel is 20 min easy walk from the local train to downtown Dresden. It's a half-hour train ride. But ... the train only ran about once an hour ... and it didnt stop where it was supposed to stop because of a major overhaul of the local train system including the main train station, which appeared to have been shut down completely. To add to the confusion, the train did not go back from Dresden the same way it came in to Dresden. In short: We should have stayed in Dresden city. But we didnt'. We did, however, save a bundle by staying at the Lindenhof, had some great meals and a free joodeling-concert, curtesy of a visiting jodeling-choir from Austria.
