“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

We found this hotel to be a wonderful choice. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating (helping with parking, were flexible about dinner reservations on an extremely busy night, even made coffee for us before our 5:45am departure). We stayed in the castle. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, views are wonderful, bathrooms are great as well.
The wine cellar is a nice place to unwind.
With regards to the restaurant, I would have to agree with other reviewers who found the restaurant not to be as excellent as others. Dishes had odd combinations and portions were on the extremely small side.
Nonetheless, I am sure we will return to this beautiful hotel and ejoy ourselves greatly.

“Luxury for a 3-Star Price!”

Stayed 3 nights here, and loved it! Schloss Eckberg is a hotel complex consisting of a hotel on a Castle grounds overlooking the Elbe river. Located directly on the TRAM line #11, you have easy access to all the top tourist sites in Dresden. The grounds are beautiful with sculpture and views of the Blue Wonder bridge, the Elbe Valley, and Dresden. The breakfast here was amazing! It became the main meal of the day. Everyday we would walk over to the Castle and stay over an hour in the Breakfast room just enjoying our time. I felt like royalty! You have lovely views over the Castle Garden and a large vista over Dresden while you eat your Breakfast. The Cavalier building is a comfortable, clean, and roomy. The outstanding maid service left fresh towels in plastic bags, when we put a do not disturb sign on our door. There is a massage and sauna on the basement floor with a huge fitness center. The Cavalier house architecture is interesting in itself, it has the big bulky build of a Soviet Era complex. Don't let that bother you, its very big and open and a large spacious interior. The views of the property are simply amazing. 20 minute train ride to the Zwinger, the Royal Palace, and the unbelievable shopping malls in Dresden. We loved this place! I would love to come back and spend a week here looking at the fabulous architecture and art in Dresden and enjoying the Castle Grounds at Schloss Eckberg.

Room Tip: The Cavalier House is a wonderful place. You don't have to pay the extra money to stay in the C...

“Top class service at affordable prices, on the outskirts of Dresden”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

The "Kavaliershaus" of Hotel Schloss Eckberg must be an insider's tip - you are staying in very comfortable and well-equipped rooms in the grounds of one of Germany's loveliest hotels - but at the much reduced cost that the hotel regards as appropriate for this more modest accomodation. This is excellent value for money, as you are offered the same breakfast as guests at the castle, and you are of course benefitting from the excellents service that the hotel provides for all its guests. We took advantage of its "Golden Autumn" offer which also included a superb 3-course dinner at the castle and free public transport for the day in and around Dresden (not to be sniffed at, given the price of car parking in Dresden).

“Staying at a Castle For The Price of A Hotel..”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

We wanted to stay at a castle on our road trip through Europe. The Schloss Eckberg fit the bill. The castle sits on a large acreage covered in trees, green dales and overlooks the river. It is a great property. The castle has a great dining room and it is fun to walk around the castle and the yards but the place to stay is the Cavalier House. The rooms are multi-level. We had a large room with a sleeping loft overlooking the forest. It was clean, quiet and oh so comfortable. I wish we had planned to stay for several days. But we had to visit Prague.

It was so relaxing just walking around the grounds. It is definitely a place to relax and Dresden is a great city to visit.

The staff was so pleasant and helpful. This is definitely a five star property staffed by five star people. If you can visit here by all means do so and it is very reasonably priced.

“Castle on the Elbe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

Magical place overlooking the river and city, superb service, food, and facilities. The terrace for both dining and breakfast with wonderful with views of Dresden was only complimented by excellent service and food. The park around gave a very peaceful atmosphere and is well worth wandering through to see the differing views.
The accommodation in the Cavaliers Place was very reasonable as well as more than adequate, very peaceful. Only wished we could have stayed longer. Very easy access with the tram to central Dresden to explore, see the sights, shop and feast etc made our visit there ideal.
