“Very cozy!”

When we first arrived we got scared, because from the outside it looks like an apartment building rather than a luxurious hotel and we even had to carry our suitcase and baby carriage up a few stairs. However, the first looks were deceiving. The hotel was very cozy and comfortable and the service great. We asked for a little baby bed since our infant baby was coming with us and they gave us a two-room suite at no extra charge! It even had a little kitchenette!

The swimming pool was built next to the building, so you access it from the basement. It was much warmer than at most hotels, which added to its comfort. We also loved sitting at the smoke-free lounge in the afternoons, were sitting in old-style couches or arm chairs we could relax with cakes and coffee or tea. The breakfest buffet was also very good.

The only negative side was that at first it was hard to find restaurants in the area (although later we discovered a street a few streets away that had plenty) and that one night there were loud concerts and discos on the street. but that was nothing the hotel could have done about that.

“Wonderful stay at the Rothenburger Hof”

My husdand and I spent a week enjoying Dresden and the surrounding area. We stayed in the Neustadt part of Dresden, which was not destroyed in WWII. The hotel was very well located, tram 11 at the corner takes you directly to the Altstadt of the city. It was very comfortable and had all the necessities plus extras, such as coffee, tea, juice available in the pm. The breakfast was fantastic, more than we could eat. Staff were quite helpful, even packing us a lunch box for our very early departure. Noise from streetside rooms is a minor problem but didn't bother me. If you are very sensitive you can get a courtside room for a little more. We would stay there again.

“Luxury, Location, Eye for detail”

We booked the hotel room with HRS for 74 Euros a night, this including breakfast. We arrived by train (Bahnhof-Neustadt) and it was only 2 stations with the number 11 streetcar....so I would give it a thumbs up for location. Downside to this was the buildings in the neighborhood. Once inside though....top quality....luxury! There is a sauna, steamroom and swimming pool in the basement, with all the luxuries of a small spa! Our room was very nice, with lots of pillows, bathrobes and slippers. The bathroom was very spacious and clean. The best was the fact that it had air conditioning, as it was very hot during our visit!!! There is tea and cake/fruit in the lobby all afternoon, which was nice! The service was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great...but, I must give some critics and say that we didn´t like that the butter was open and not very appetizing and very very soft in the heat! The floors in the breakfast area was very loud and creaky and the shower door was only half closeable and taking a shower was almost like the flood of 2002.

“Brilliant hotel in great city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2009

Just came back from a 5-day business trip in Dresden. Hotel Rothenburger is friendly, unpretentious 4-star hotel located north of the river in Neustadt, around 15mins walk from the tourist centre of Altstadt. The area may not have the churches and opera houses found south of the river, but has loads of great bars and restaurants... and the local area is really "buzzing" at night without being too loud or intimidating.

The hotel was everything we needed. Free, reliable internet access and a great breakfast (cereals, muesli, fresh fruit, choice of juices, choice of breads, salad, sausage, bacon, eggs, salmon, cold meats, pates, cakes.. the list went on!) plus a nice swimming pool, sauna and steam room. Room sizes allocated to our group varied from apartments to one very small single room, but everyone thought the beds were comfortable and even rooms on the street-side were not noisy. Taxi from airport was 15 Euros and 10 Euros to the Messe (1.80E by tram/bus).

We found all the staff very helpful and friendly, and communication before our arrival was very efficient too. Would definitely return there for our next visit.

“bad apple because of the awful management”

Rothenburger strasse is in 15 minute walk from Albertplatz, that is not bad, but is not really the best place in the city. Frankly speaking, the hotel furniture and amenities were fine, so I wouldn’t say it about the management.
I had booked a single room in the hotel through a travel company and started to stay. Being pressed for time, asked for an iron and failed. Going out the hotel and remembering the iron, I asked for the time they need for my laundry done.
Mr. Marcell Dippel, the executive manager companion (!)– what was signed on his visit card – in crude and intimidating manner appointed the laundry time in two days. Because of the fact that I was going to stay in for just that two days, I was perplexed and began to suspect smth wrong in the picture.
I asked why, having a swimming pool and 4* and all that, and was answered with a question about my problems. I didn’t believe my ears because the situation was getting to a sort of a street fight. I asked the “manager” to change manner and voice and was answered that mr Marcell stopped understand English. He changed the language to German and went out. I have no idea what kind or raibes Marcell has and may be I'm not a pleasent client, but I was polite, sober and my money was prepaid.
I had to change the hotel with a gloomy perspective to get my money back. They say “a fish is getting stink from its head”
