“Room critic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

The lighting in the room was miserable.
Also the room had a "well used" appearance. It could do with being renovated.
However the view over the Elbe was wonderful and it was extremely quiet at night.
The staff were all very helpful and efficient, the evening meal was good and reasonably priced and the breakfast buffet, including fresh orange juice, was excellent.

“Good for the money paid”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

Firstly I should declare that I stayed here as part of the 50% Accor winter promotion, so got a really good deal. The location of the hotel isn't central, it's out in one of the summer suburbs and is right next to Dresden-Cotta station (DB) and there is a tram route that passes outside the hotel front door (but the stop is some distance away near to the road junction, the rail station is nearer). Nothing spectacular about the hotel, it's a modern bog-standard Mercure affair. We had a twin room and were quite impressed that the beds weren't single beds but more like queen size - this was a big bonus. Another bonus was being allowed to check-in really early (about 1000) when we only expected to be able to leave our bags. The room was big but the bathroom was quite small and smelt a bit stale. Breakfast was (as usual for Accor hotels) overpriced, so we didn't sample it. Overall a good stay and I'd be quite happy to make a return visit, but not sure I would unless there was a good offer on.

“Recommended, but small things could be improved”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

This hotel is in a great location if touring by car, being close to the motorway and close to tram line into city centre. Safe, free parking too. There are supermarkets close by to purchase alternative breakfast, which was too expensive in the hotel. We paid a premium to have a "Privilege" room. It was large (somewhat too large - it would have been cosier with some comfortable lounge furniture), advertised with a balcony view over the Elbe to the vineyards beyond - er, no; a useless 2 foot wide concrete area overlooking a Seimens factory and a logistics centre! That is not the hotel's fault of course, but the advertising could be "less imaginative". We changed the first room to another because of an enormous carpet stain, but to be fair, staff started to clean it immediately it was reported. Otherwise, the second room was very clean and well-appointed, with all mod-cons - coffee-maker, water, hair-dryer, TV (only German channels) etc. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Using a 3 nights-for-2 deal, the hotel was good value for money.

“Good hotel ,nice rooms but a bit out of town”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2011

Mercure is nice if unspectacular hotel.

It is located about 4 miles ( 7km) from the centre of Dresden and there are absolutely no eating places anywhere near the hotel so you either have to eat in the hotel or go in to town.

This is less than ideal but the rooms are good, the staff helpful and the breakfast buffet in the morning is excellent value.

Room Tip: Try and get one facing the river or the courtyard
