The Bayerischer Hof is a family run hotel, and this is demonstrated by the high quality of friendly personal service. I stayed as a solo member of a holiday group. The breakfast and dinner were good; sometimes groups get offered a lower standard of meal, but not here. When some of us went to the theatre, the hotel provided us with a late night supper. The immediate surroundings are unprepossessing, but the historic Aldstadt is within 15 minutes walk across the scenic Augustus bridge; there is also a frequent tram service.

The room was clean and large. The hotel staff spoke almost no english but tried to be helpful. They could not speak enough english to help you find local attractions or fun things to get into. So if you stay here be prepared in advance for what you would like to do and know how you are going to get there. Hotel had a very small refrigerator but it didn't get as cold as a frig in the US. A great thing was that the hotel provided free internet and had a computer in the library for guests. It was great to e-mail family after a long day of vacationing.

We lived there for a night and found it really near shopping area and worth a stay in such reasonable price!

The room is a really large and newly decorated with unexpected free access to internet and cloth drier installed in the very clean bathroom!

We enjoyed very much about the service offered from the staff here as well.

When reading a couple of the reviews I don't understand we have been at the same hotel! I have been three times at this hotel, the last visit was in July 2008. The hotel is located in "Innere Neustadt", 10 mins walk to the historic Altstadt and 5-10 mins walk to the "Kneipenviertel" where you should go at least one evening to avoid all the tourists in Altstadt.
The hotel is close to a busy road and you should ask for a room facing the back yard. The staff has been utterly service minded at all our visits. The interior and exterior is lovely decorated. The breakfast is one this hotel's big pre. There is a delicious buffet and the maid is serving you coffee and tea by the table and a "SpiegelEie" is no problem. I do think some groups staying at this hotel have a different breakfast and I don't know whether this is more simple or not. There is just one minus and that is during the summer month with no air condition. But they can provide fans and we have slept well every night at Bayerisher Hof.
