“Home from home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

I stayed for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The hotel is a little old fashioned when it comes to decor but is spotlessly clean. Staff above average and willing to help with a smile. Little extra made the stay more enjoyable with cake served in the afternoon and occasional free wine on reception in the evening. Breakfast superb with wonderful staff. Laundry inexpensive and returned promptly.

“Interesting place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

The place is in an historic building 20 mins off the city center, ina quiet area 5 minutes away from the nearest tram shop. People at the front very friendly and helpful. Room very large, with nice decoration. free chocolate when you arrive!

I had breakfast only one morning, beacuse the other I woke up too late. So I had to walkto the nearest bakery in the central street which is not very near.. by the way, breakfast was full of things, but not all of them is really "breakfast style"... not bad although. It has an eastern touch, in food choice and in other things around.

The elevator is available, but it connectes mid-floors, so expect to do some bit of stairs with the luggage.

“Not close to the centre”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

The room was clean and large (by European standards), the bathroom likewise. However, it had a very dated 80's look and was not very tasteful.
The bed was a bit soft but comfortable.
The room was quiet at night.
The staff were very nice and helpful.
I did not have breakfast. Wi-fi was OK.
Now the main issue. A major problem with this place is the poor, distant location. There is obviously nothing to do nearby. No places of any interest whatsoever. Only an average bakery near the tram stop. It's a good 300-400 metres to the nearest tram stop, and the ride to the centre a good 15-20 min. After 10 pm, I think the service is every 40 min., so plan ahead.
I did not like the location at all. There are better areas to stay, to appreciate this marvellous baroque city.

“It was a really nice hotel and we would come back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

Really nice and good service staff. Large and clean room/bathroom. Good buffet breakfast. Really good restaurant belonging to the hotel (we received a discount every day).

“Over rated poor location, great staff, great breakfast but noisy at night”

Sorry to go against the flow, I booked to stay here based on the reviews both here, and on Booking com. so we where disappointed with the reality.

IF YOU HAVE A CAR.....
I would suggest, if only for the breakfast alone, this is a good option, provided you get a 'quiet room' away from traffic and don't want to be able to 'wander' out of the hotel, as its a decent walk, followed by a decent tram ride to the busy areas

However, if you don't have a car, or would prefer to be close to cafes and shops, generally 'life' then I would suggest not to stay here, it is literally on a long busy (with traffic, not shops) street there is only one place to eat which is on the opposite side of the road, and owned by the hotel.

On the positive side the breakfast is great, as are the staff

The rooms are clean and functional, but appear dated, and if you are unlucky enough to get a room with a window onto the street, it is noisy.

The main areas of the hotel are indeed spotlessly clean, and as mentioned, the breakfast is great, just the location and the noise is so off putting personally.

The hotel says it has a relaxation area, which is essentially a wooden sauna and loungers with showers located in the basement.
