We stayed at the Pullman for one night on our three week tour on Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic. The hotel is modern, clean with a great location for rail travelers and close to the city center. The room was a little small and the bath was kind of open to the room. The shower was between the bath and the bedroom, it was glass on three side, could have been a lot of fun if some one wanted to give a show, it did have a curtain to pull around if it bothered you.

  • Liked — Clean Modern, Good location
  • Disliked — Bathroom was a little strange

The highlight of this hotel was the slick design and high-quality construction: well-made rooms, quality materials, interesting architecture, very sound proof. The rooms are very small but not akwardly so like in some other old hotels: if you're organized all your stuff can be fitted neatly in some closet or other. My room included a floor-to-ceiling window with a great view of the city. The 3-star rating seems a bit modest given that this hotel provides a lot of services including bathrobes and a ironing room-not often found in european hotels.

I got a good deal on the room by paying a deposit in advance on the hotel website but the rate for this hotel does not include much besides the room. Notably, at 16 euros the breakfast is pretty expensive. If you dont need a large breakfast it does not makes sense to eat at the hotel and it's better to hit one of the small cafes/bakeries nearby. Also, the wireless internet isn't free (and did not work in the upper floors when I was there).

The hotel is located just a five minute walk from the central train station in Dresden's main shopping street, and a ten to fifteen minute walk from the beautiful Altstadt. I was on the eleventh floor, so got great views over the city from my room, which was really modern and clean. Unlike some other contributors, I didn't think the room was too small, although I was travelling on my own. I thought having the shower in the room was quite a fun idea, although there is a curtain, which creates a separate bathroom area, if you want. I didn't bother with breakfast, as I thought 16 Euros was on the expensive side - there are a couple of bakeries nearby, where you can get something to eat. For eating out in the evening, I'd recommend taking the tram to the Neustadt, where there's lots of choice, and it's less touristy than what's on offer in the Altstadt.

Don't get me wrong, this is a very nice hotel. But the rooms are small compared to other Mercures I have stayed at and some might not get over the shower in the middle of the room (there is a shower curtain to pull for privacy). Breakfast is very expensive (16 Euro each) and you can't get a package deal on the hotel website including it. The fitness studio and sauna was closed up for the three nights we stayed too, which is something that you pay that little extra for in a 4* hotel! I have had much better stays at other Mercures around the world, so I would suggest booking this one on previous experiences with the chain might leave you, as it did me, a little disappointed.

  • Liked — Good location close to the main rail station and the old town
  • Disliked — Everything is an added extra, small room, poor value

This hotel is in a convenient position particularly for shopping. It is very clean. However, it is let down by the fact that the rooms are small and the bathroom is nonexistent. The glass shower and vanity are in the room itself and there is not much room to put anything. We always expect a separate bathroom not a shower in the bedroom, particularly in a hotel that calls itself a four star establishment. I would look elsewhere next time.
