My wife and I spent 2 days at the Hotel ibis

Pros:

- in city area
- 5 to 10 minute walk to station
- within walking distance of main tourist attractions, major shopping centre and supermarket
- clean, modern room

Cons:

- very small bedroom (had to put one case in front of door)
- no freeWIFI in room or lobby. We were told we could go to McDonalds opposite. Broadband available at a whopping $5euro for 30 mins $12.50 euro 24 hrs
- no fridge or tea/coffee making facilities
- reception staff not overly friendly
- bottle of water in room $4.90 euro
- 4 lifts were very small and we had to wait 15 minutes to find one with sufficient room to accommodate us and our two cases the day we left. Other guests waiting were equally frustrated

If you travel by train and you look for simple, clean place very close to Dresden maintrain station, this hotel may be a good place for you to stay. Large hotel with basically friendly atmosphere and not expensive too. Try to avoid breakfast if you are not fan of large room with many people eating breaky at same time, you may get better food and enviroment somewhere else outside hotel for sure, but overall Ibis hotel chain is just what it is.

I was not offerred membership in the Accor programme and the internet charges were excessively high. I have subsequently booked into another Accor hotel in Germany and offerred membership in the Accor programme and offerred free internet for the duration of my stay.. A wonderful surprise! Why wasnt I offerred the same at IBIS Dreseden Bastei?
