“Not somewhere I'd stay again”

On a positive note, it's fairly close to downtown, but I had expected more from this hotel. It is very outdated and basic, not really what I expected for the price I paid. The staff are friendly, but that's the only real positive. I can't say I'd stay here again.

You need to open the wardrobe using the desk, which sounds strange in itself. When you're here for business, you'd like to access your wardrobe without tripping on laptop wires or potentially accidentally pulling your laptop off the desk.

“Not sure how it has so many good ratings”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

So, I spent 7 days at this hotel while working a conference at the Maratim, I have to say, I do not understand how this hotel has so many positive reviews. My self and my co-workers who stayed here all found this hotel dreadful.
I'll start with the positives, The staff is very friendly, the location decent to downtown.
then on to the negatives, the bed was extremely hard, and twin beds wouldn't stay together meaning you are sleeping on a very tiny bed.
the main curtain behind the sheer was stained form water damage and looked like it was 70 years old.
The carpet was tired and unpadded in any way, it was very office building feel.
As other mentioned the desks and mirrors in the bathroom are very odd.
The internet was painfully slow, on speedtest it averaged less then 100kb. as a reference this is barely faster then dial up.
Overall, I would not stay here on my dollar, if paid for by a client, then that would be another thing. but I would try to find any other hotel rather then staying here.

“modern hotel, nice location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

I stayed in this hotel with a friend for 3 nights since we were in Dresden for a congress.
The hotel is in a very good location, only 10 minutes on foot fron the historical center, but in a quiet neighbourhood. It is very stylish decorated, the rooms are spacious enough, comfortable and clean. Bathroom was very spacious but the lighting was inadequate. Free WiFi is a great advantage and the connection is pretty fast. The hotel parking is too expensive, (14,50euros per day), but you can park on the street in front of the hotel only for 3 euros per day.

“Still very nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

I have been here several times now but the last time was a few years ago. This week we went there for 2 nights. It was again a good experience.

The rooms are very spacy and very nice decorated. The bathroom is also large and contains al the things you need. Maybe 1 point of criticism is that the sink does not have a stop.

I only hate that you have to switch on the lights in the hal by your self. They could easily be switch by movement detectors. Also you the wals in the room could use some paint.

The hotel is clean. The personel is very frendly and the breakfast is very good.

All and all a hotel where you can stay with lots of pleasure.

“Slightly strange decor but comfortable, good location, reasonably priced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2011

We booked this hotel on a discount (so we didn't get the breakfast) and were quite happy with it overall. The room wasn't huge, but it was comfortable, and the decor was hilariously suggestive. Basically, we had no complaints - we could walk into town for the major sites, it was very convenient for public transport to the night-time going out areas, and was pretty clean and comfortable. For an 'art' hotel, it is more of a corporate hotel than a boutiquey independent, though the decorations do do a good job of making it much less soulless than other options in this price range.
