“Banal German business hotel, but reasonably good breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2011

Saarbrücken isn't especially beautiful, but this hotel probably makes the most of it, by being right on the Saar river. I did have a river view, which I appreciated. But there's something, well, mercenary in how much they show off the things you could pay for. Internet is €9/day, there were snacks on the table (which when I put them into the space under the TV, they kept moving back to being on top of the table), etc. It all felt, well, kind of cheap.

That said, it was kind of cheap: it was around €110/night plus taxes, which I guess isn't too bad as a deal.

Breakfast was pretty standard German hotel breakfast. But, well, that's tasty, actually.

Room Tip: Just ask for a river view.

“Good business hotel, a bit old-fashioned, restaurant is best avoided”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

I've stayed several times at the Mercure Saarbrücken city. Overall, it's a good business hotel with clean if somewhat old-fashioned rooms.

It's very easy to reach as it's close to an Autobahn exit and still quite centrally located. They have a small garage for travelers. The immediate surroundings aren't very interesting for sightseeing, though.

The restaurant isn't suited for gourmet dining. I'd stick to the bar for a quick snack or check out a restaurant in the centre of town. Breakfast is nice, though.

Very nice and helpful staff as usual with Mercure.

“Great Service and Great Place To Say Close To Train Station!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

I went to visit a friend in Saarbrücken for 4 nights with 5 other friends and have to say this is the best Hotel I've stayed in while in Saarbrücken! I've stayed at 6 other hotels while in this city and this one was the nicest, great service, and walking distance from the train station!

We all arrived early around 1:00 pm, two hours before check in and they were very kind and said our rooms were ready and let us check in early! Also I speak a little German but the front desk staff speak great English! Helped a ton as the other Hotels in Saarbrücken didn't speak any English. Made it pretty hard lol!

The rooms were good. Not as big as in the States but this is Europe. The best part for me was that they were very clean and tidy! We had a great view of the river and room service was great!

The Bar downstairs was good for a starter beer and very good service from the bartender! On our last night which was a Sunday we were having a great time with our friends and had a hard time finding a bar open since it was 1:00 AM! We finally went back to the Hotel and asked politely and they opened the Bar and served my friends and I some drinks! The bartender was awesome and very kind! We tipped him well for all the trouble!

Overall a great place with great managers and staff that treat the guest with respect and very friendly!!! I travel all over the US for work and I wish we had this kind of service back at home! Wonderful Place!!! I will be back!
