“Nice Hotel, Good Location, Terrible Beds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

This is a nice hotel, it is very clean, the staff is extremely friendly, and the location is great. That being said, the beds were the worst, most uncomfortable thing I have ever slept on. The first two nights were okay, but then I started getting pressure points and things went downhill. It was worse than sleeping on the ground. I managed to go to sleep by laying on top of the blankets and comforter, but only just barely.

Otherwise it is great. The restaurant is amazing, and everyone is so friendly and accomodating. I was sick one day, and the staff actually noticed I was missing at breakfast and packed me a "sick breakfast" complete with tea and zwieback (a German food - kind of like really hard toast). Although they don't have formal "room service", we wanted a light late night snack, so we went to the restaurant, and they put together a sandwich tray, which they brought to our room. Plus, they packed us a delicious breakfast when we had to leave for the airport early in the morning.

The location is awesome, it is an easy 5-10 minute walk into the center of the city from the hotel and the bus stop is right across the street.

I would probably stay here again; I would just ask for plenty of blankets to pad the rock hard mattress. It probably won't bother you for a night or two, but anything longer will leave you in pain.

“German Hospitality”

Very friendly staff, very clean, pleasant rooms, central location, but we did not 2 rooms next to each other for the family. And make sure that you will not sleep in room No. 66 or the two others on 1st and 2nd floor, that lie close to the noisy elevator

“Easy access to local attractions”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2011

Quiet, clean room on the courtyard; comfortable bed (two twins pushed together to create a queen) and ample, tasty breakfast. The hotel has easy access to the major bike routes in and around Trier. Friendly, accommodating staff. A great place to begin a bike trip down the Mosel.

“I would't recomend this hotel”

Because I got a deal online we decided to spend two nights at this hotel, but I think that because of the deal....they gave us the worst room that they had, it was next to a traffic light. On a Saturday night a lot of cars drive by blasting all kind of music...then firetrucks.....we couldn't close the window because the room didn't have A/C.
I request ta change of room, they said they didn't have another room for us that night but that they would the next day....so they switched us to a tiny room next to the kitchen and the blanket had a spot of blood.
Maybe if you don't get a deal...the hotel it's actually pretty!!!!

“A Gem”

Thanks to Trip Advisor members who helped me decide on this hotel. 1st of all, the staff is exceptional. From home I emailed questions including how to get to the hotel from the train station. All questions answered promptly.
When we arrived, we crossed over the street to the bus shelter and boarded bus (as directed by hotel). It's a bit confusing as I expected to head the opposite direction; the bus turns quite a bit. If you have a train ticket the ride is free ! The bus passes the Ponta Negra Roman gates. In less than 15 minutes you arrive just outside the hotel door.
Staff is very welcoming and informative. Lift is very small. I chose the stairs. Halls are long and meandering...that's where you notice the age of the hotel. The room, though, is very modern (except for the carpet). Bed is comfortable, many toiletries, magnifying mirror, coffee/tea pot. Many personal touches. Hotel is an excellent value.
Location outstanding. Walk a few short blocks to the old town with it's many restaurants and shops. Less than a 10 minute walk in several directions will bring you to some wonderful Roman ruins, a palace and ancient churches.
The town is a surprise and a delight. We hope to return.
