I stayed at the Hotel Paulin with my wife and my parents in two double rooms. The hotel was a good price which influenced our decision a great deal as we were only there for one night. The breakfast in the morning was the standard german breakfast buffet spread, with good coffee and nice baked goods. Our room was a corner so the light was better than my parent's room. The bathrooms were enormous in both rooms and well fit out. The ceilings in the room were high, but the curtains were an odd purplish color that gave the room a strange feeling when the light from outside was shining through. I won't comment on the beds other than to say that German hotel beds are all the same - two hard beds pushed together. The hotel had parking which was down a strange car elevator. The front desk was only moderately helpful at recommending restaurants and giving directions - I think we got a new guy. The location of the hotel is good because you are close to the Porta Negra (its right down the street), but the hotel is located on the outskirts the medievel city centre and the immediate streets are not that nice. Oh, and our rooms faced the street in front of the hotel which were pretty noisy at night. We are city dwellers so we were not bothered, but other people might be.
