I just returned from a trip to Europe that included a stop in Trier, Germany which is in the beautiful Mosel river valley. I stayed at the Altstadt Hotel because the Romischer Kaiser was booked. The local tourist agency made the reservation for me. The Altstadt Hotel is just around the corner from the Romischer Kaiser and a short block away from the market area. The Altstadt Hotel is simply a wonderful place. The desk clerks were very helpful, although they did not speak much English. The room was very, very nice; clean, with wood flooring and high ceilings and a bathroom with shower. The price was 67euros and included breakfast. Breakfast included scrambled eggs with cheese and bits of sausage or mushroom; cold cuts; breads; cold cereals; fruit; yogurt; tomatoes and cucumbers; and a selection of cheeses; juice and champagne in case you wanted a mimosa. On several occasions, I made a sandwich of bread, cheese, salami, tomatoes and cucumber for lunch. I would highly recommend the Altstadt Hotel to anyone visiting Trier. They dont have a website but you can contact the tourism office for reservations. Everyone I met in Trier was very nice and I definitely want to return there someday.
