“good but nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2010

We came into this hotel after we had spent some nights in Europapark Hotel Colosseo.
So this hotel was not so great. The room was very small and very much Laura Ashley. Flowers everywhere - on the wallpaper, on the pillows, on the curtans, everywhere.
The bathroom was tiny, but ok.
The advantige of this hotel is the location: Very close to the city of Trier but very quiet. The busstop is on the other side of the road and the best way to visit the city because finding a parking spot is very hard.
The hotel is in walking distance of the amfitheater and it is a nice walk as well.
Dinner is not that special; Not a buffet, but 2 choises on the menu of the day. For children the choise is even more limited.
The pool is ok, but you need to be quiet because a lot of people come there to relax.
Not very pleasant for the children.
Breakfast is good but nothing special.
We think you can find better hotels for this price.

“Friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2010

Great place! We arrived on a warm sunny day and had the hotels home made beer on the patio. We then had a fine dinner inside the attached restaurant. Staff was very friendly and the fact we spoke little German was not a problem. The rooms were ok, not the colors I would choose, but otherwise comfortable. Traffic across the bridge and the downtown area was heavy, but once at the hotel not a problem. Vineyards spot the hillside as well.

“Just like Grandma's - good food but tacky furnishings”

This hotel was a little out of town on a pretty hillside. The resturant was very good serving both a bar style menu and also a German/French fusion upscale menu. We chose the latter. The food was very tasty and moderately priced. The breakfast was also very good with many options including mimosas! The room on the other hand was very gaudy with floral bed spreads and outdated furniture. The whole room had the "old folks home" vibe and odor to match. The spa area was interesting with a thermal heat thing which was next to the sauna. It sort of looked like they would microwave you so I was not brave enough to enter. The sauna is a naked only sauna but the pool requires swimsuits. We stuck to the pool.

“A real taste of Germany”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2009

This hotel was recommended to us by friends and it lived up to their recommendation. The service in the hotel was generally very good. The staff were helpful and pleasant and all spoke very good English. Most of the guests were German which enhanced our holiday experience.
The room was clean and comfortable. We stayed in a standard room.
The hotel is situated on the outskirts of Trier and it is very quiet. There is a frequent bus service from the hotel into town which we used but we also walked into town on one afternoon.
We liked the German atmosphere of the hotel and the beer! The only negative comment we would make was the lack of a residents' sitting room or lounge.

“Disappointed in Blesius Garten”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2009

Staff seemed indifferent/cold. They did not honor our request for a non-smoking room even though we made the rez over 3 months in advance. When we complained about the heavy smell of smoke, they said they would "spray the room" which did nothing for the smoke smell. Their pub/brewery restaurant has limited hours and we could not get food when we arrived mid-afternoon on Saturday. We were even ignored when we asked where we could get anything to eat, said they'd be right with us, and never returned. Their "nice" restaurant is way over-priced. Suggest eating at guest house next door instead which was great and reasonably priced. Staff said it was a 20 minute walk to town, but in fact it was 20 minute walk to the Kaiser bath ruins, which were not in center of town. It was another 20 min. walk from there to center of town, and easy to get lost on the way if you took the wrong street.
