“Great non-chain hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

This is a nice little hotel near a major park outside the city center of Mainz. Family run and has large rooms for Europe that are modern and very clean. You can walk to town through the park. Do not get the rooms on the Rhine side, great view but a trainline runs below the hotel on that side. You can access the Rhine walking path through the park. Two restuarants, one a more simple and one upscale.

Room Tip: Book ahead and look for there activites that happen during the year, Walk to town and save on a taxi...

“Downward spiral in quality – not what it used to be”

Stayed in this hotel a number of times over past few years. Enjoyed the park nearby and attention to details. Last year noticed deterioration in quality and service and this time it was obvious.

Restaurant: food is of good quality but very expensive. Service is very arrogant, slow and not friendly.

Room service: very slow. Reasonable prices.

Rooms: good size but the corridor was stinking so to get to the room you need to run from elevator quickly. Well functioning room but the shower room has no door and the window is transparent - not always convenient.

“Unforgettable experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

Favorite Park Hotel is aptly named – we loved our stay here. As a Gringo, the concept of complimentary breakfast used to mean egg like substance in a chafing dish. Happy to learn it has a whole different meaning in Mainz – wonderful spread every morning! Fresh baked bread, fresh fruit, yogurt, cold cuts, cereal - real eggs!!

We enjoyed every step of our 10 minute walk through the beautiful park to travel downtown. The view of the Rhine from our room was amazing! Favorite Park’s staff was helpful, courteous and patient with our tourist questions.

Our room was comfortable, we quickly grew accustomed to the European way of climate control - open the window if you are hot/close it if you are cold. The pool was fun for the kids. Everything in the hotel from the rooms to the breakfast area to the lobby was clean and perfectly maintained. There is a fabulous aquarium along the hall to the rooms.

If you are visiting the Frankfurt area from the States it is worth the trip to the Favorite – it’s off the path of the standard tourist fare and it is unlike any hotel I have ever stayed in.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the Rhine - the view is amazing.

“Nice family run hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2011

Until now i stayed most of my time in Maiz at the Novotel ( former Dorint Hotel). For a change my cvompany booked me into the Favorite Park Hotel, although a bit farer away from the city centre - it is still within walk distance ( about 15 - 20 minutes) and you are at the center near the dom and Altstadt. The hotel itself is a bit difficult to navigate - as additional wings have been added in the past. the room are functional and ok, although some of the rooms date from the 80's and 90's but well maintained overall the hotel has a bit an older feel, but the friendliness of the personnel as well as the owning family makes it to forget, that maybe there more modern hotels. The personnel tries always to make you feel welcome and at home. They have several restaurants in the house, the breakfast is in a very nice separate room with view on the Rhine river. Rooms are not really big, but big enough with decent closed and cabinet storage space. TV is no flat TV but one of this older TV's from the 90's... but it really doesnt matter so much. Internet is wireless and provided T0Mobile - you can buy for 29 Euros a hotspot account whihc functions 30 days and everywhere in Germany... this is good value.

Overall solid hotel for me - which also is quite nice to spend a relaxing weekend privately

Room Tip: Try to get a room with Park View, they are quieter
