Here are the positives at this hotel: Very nice staff; clean; good breakfast buffet; and not a bad location if you are traveling to Frankfurt Airport (about 30 minutes away in the morning traffic).

But here is why we would never stay here again: Our room was tiny, dark, unattractive, loud, and oppressively hot. There was a window facing the afternoon sun and it was like an oven when we arrived. The street noise was loud to begin with, but compounded by more than an hour of honking by happy soccer fans who had just advanced in the World Cup.

The Mainzer Hof was recommended in a reputable guide book, so perhaps there are better rooms elsewhere in the hotel, but our room was so uncomfortable that we were tempted to leave.
