We stayed here for the Christmas Market in early December.
Hotel has had a major make over which has made the rooms more modern with stylish comfortable furniture. The goose feather duvet is a very nice touch and contributes to a very comfortable sleep.
For breakfast try their buffet which has a very extensive selection of hot and cold foods. What I found amusing was bottles of beer and Sekt for breakfast. The cold cuts are amazing and after this breakfast I was stuffed for the day. Service in this hotel is very professional and courteous something that hotels in North America could learn from.
The rooms overlooking the Rhine are nice for a view of the old fort across the river along with the barge traffic on the Rhine.
In the spring summer and fall it is a nice day trip on KDL line and I would recommend getting off at St. Goar and take the Regional train back to Mainz.

Stayed at this hotel twice. Rooms are very modern. Very comfortable. Staff is courteous and friendly. Food is delicious. Central location. Easy strolls to restaurants, market. Beautiful area just to take long walks and enjoy the architecture as well as a walk along the Rhine.

The hotel has recently been thoroughly renovated. The modern lobby is rather cold and uninviting but the rooms in the Dom Wing (the only ones I have stayed in) are spacious and comfortable although a bit of a walk. The city side of that portion is quieter. An excellent breakfast buffet in the restaurant overlooking the Rhine River.

My previous review of this property was very bad, so I'm happy to say that the hotel is like brand new after a complete renovation. Comfortable rooms with stylish, modern decor. Good value dinner package - 17 euros for one course with a glass of wine overlooking the river Rhine. The curtains completely block out the light, and double glazing works pretty well to stop outside noise and freezing cold in winter. The 'Rhine' wing rooms either overlook the river or the very busy main road, and the 'City' wing rooms either overlook quiet residential buildings or the very busy main road. The new bar is quite upmarket, but not very busy, and there is a new casino. You will need to remortgage the house to pay for phone calls and internet, which are very expensive. There are a few telephone/internet places in town.
