“Perfect location, expensive breakfast!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2011

This hotel is situated only a few hundred meters from the main railway station, and you also get a free day pass for public transport in the city. The rooms are comfortable, a bit small but well furnished. We enjoyed our stay, but we think that paying 14.50 for breakfast is far too much. It is better to have something at one of the cafes at the station.
The hotel is also close to the Taubertsbergbad sauna, which can be recommended.

“Hot or cold”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2010

We liked the hotel, location and facility. The beds were comfortable but there were not top sheets or blankets just a thick comforter that was too hot to sleep under. The bottom line was that I woke up during the night sweating and the only option was to take off the comforter and get cold. They need to have a a small blanket in the room to use in this case. Also the breakfast was 14.50 euro which is way too much for that.

“Scam”

I traveled to Mainz with friends after booking via web site Booking.com
when i returned from my visit i was unplesantly suprised from my bank that i was to pay for 3 rooms instead of 2.My bank advised me to pay for the room because the expences for the credit card arbitrary are several times higher the the cost of the room.
I warn everyone to be extra careful when dealing with InterCity and/or Booking.com.

“Great Hotel for us”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2010

I found this hotel on the Internet and read some
of the reviews on this site before arrival. It was
a great hotel for us within easy walking distance
to the rail station and to town and the sights of
Mainz. The bonus of a free day pass on the local
transit system was also great. Our rooms were
spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet. Our only
problem was in obtaining an iron and ironing
board. Apparently they only have two and it seems
they are more in demand than the rooms -- so
request one, if you want, days in advance.
The hotel staff were great, helpful and very
courteous. When back in Mainz again we will
definitely choose the InterCityHotel.

“Good, worth it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 May 2010

Booked the hotel via their hotline (as you can't book two singles, but only one double, or book twice a single). Cheaper than any online offer: 99EUR/night, but breakfast was cheaper via online.
There's an underground parking for 14 EUR/night. Funny exit, the card reader is on the passenger's side, so a single driver would have to get off the car to "open" the garrage gate.
The hotel as an oval shape and the rooms are not all the same size. Especially the "tips" of the ellipse (rooms 9, 10 and 25,26) are significantly smaller than the others, so it may be a good idea to avoid them.

Bathroom is nice and well equiped (apparently shower cabins, no bath tubs), but has absolutely not toiletry articles. The hotel seems to be geared towards lowering the "unnecessary waste", and this might be one such measure.

Room is very well thought in terms of equipment, lots of storage space in the warderobe, a large safe which probably fits a 15inch laptop and is easy to handle.

Nice, large, comfy bed. Quiet room.

Breakfast is very varied, good quality cold cuts, scrambled eggs, very crispy bacon, muesli (including gluten-free ones), fruits, lots of teas, coffee machine.

While not in the old city by any means, decent walking distance to downtown. And, indeed, close (probably 5 min walk) to the railway station.

All in all, good experience. At 110EUR/night with breakfast for a single is not cheap, but also not outrageously expensive.
