We stayed for 2 nights in July 2010. A large part of Koblenz is currently being dug up and repaved ready for a garden festival next year. This means that the long hike from the station pulling the luggage was harder than it should have been, and sightseeing around Deutches Eck was a little disappointing. However the location of the Hotel is very good - the KD boat stop is very close, and the old town just a short walk away, and the cable car is close.
The old town itself is very scenic, with lots of interesting buildings and pretty squares, and excellent icecream.!
Our room faced the Rhine, and had a balcony to sit on, which was really nice. The train on the opposite bank of the Rhine is surprisingly noisy, but did not stop us sleeping. The room and hotel is clean, but looks somewhat dated. The breakfast was plentiful, standard fare - meat, cheese, cereal, fruit, yogurt, bread etc. A key was provided for entering at night via the car park at the back.
Staff friendly. If i went back to Koblenz, I would stay there again.

Bit crammed because we booked a triple room but were given a double room with an extra bed put in whatever space was available. The balcony overlooked the River Rhine and gave us the loveliest sunset view. I'd say the view was definitely the best part of the room! Breakfast was a simple affair but all in all this was a nice stay.

It has a restaurant downstairs, which means you can pretty much dine by the Rhine without having to scour far and wide for a good location to eat. The old town area of Koblenz is located a bit far out (about 15 - 20 minutes' walk), but the German corner and cable car attraction are literally at the doorstep of the hotel and can be accessed within minutes. It was a bit of a distance arriving by foot from the main train station (especially with luggages in tow), so make sure you figure out how the bus system works before setting out!

My twenty some daughter and I hiked from the train station which hike it is, but we would have enjoyed it more had we avoided the waterfront and its significant construction & wandered through town center. Construction in front of the hotel makes it less then perfect but on the weekend it was okay. Our train was an hour late so my daughter called, good thing, the hotel lobby & lights go out at 11 pm. We checked in, the lights went out, the lobby got locked and then after going for dinner you have to let yourself in a back door off an alley. This of course is not the most inviting reception and thought we would check out the next morning. But then waking to the sun, the lovely breakfast with an interesting array of German, European & American clientele got us grounded. Staff moved us across to the riverside room (we asked) which was gorgeous. The hotel is beautifully situated and we were able to take one of the first cable car rides ever across the Rhine -- it opened that day. So with a little patience we grew to very much appreciate the hotel's beauty, location and assets. Do be aware of this summer construction. We did enjoy the staff but they were low-key, helpful if asked but not overt. Germany was experiencing an extreme heat wave & beware no air conditioning at this hotel. No Wifi but a slow computer it the lobby. A large extended family/friends was traveling together and everyone of differing abilities seemed accommodated. Flexible. And great sightseeing within easy access - the Mosel/Rhine Rivers, the cable car, the old town .... all great.
