The Landhaus Shattner has become our "home away from home" and "base camp" when traveling in Europe. Family-run with two generations of staff seemingly ever-present, the travel-worn guest is never without hospitality. An example: On one memorable stay, we were booked on an early-morning flight from Frankfurt. Knowing we would miss the complimentary morning meal, the staff prepared a "takeaway sack breakfast," leaving it outside our door before we left at 4:30 a.m. Rooms are spotless (apparently refurbished annually), spacious, and a great value. The location for regional touring is perfect: parking is on or close to a main boulevard through Landstuhl and close to an autobahn interchange. Proximity is to Rhamstein AFB is a plus for the military traveler.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights and thought it was a nice property with a very friendly staff. The rooms are comfortable although offer nothing special. The breakfast was typical German. The only complaint I would have is the thin walls. I could hear my neighbors television and also could hear him snoring during the night. Luckily I am sound sleeper and it did affect me all that much.

Beautiful family owned hotel with the feel of a quaint bed and breakfast. From snuggling down into the fluffy duvet to endulging in a robust coffee in the morning, it is everything an "away from home" stay should be.

When we lived in Bavaria and had business in the K-town area we always stayed at the Schattner. The owners are kind people who would do anything they could to assist. English is spoken by all generations.
The rooms are comfortable and charmingly decorated. TV includes AFN and CNN International. Bathrooms are modern and have hairdriers. There are common computer and ironing areas. The included breakfasts are excellent, typically German, generous, and buffet style. The coffee is delicious.

Sometimes you can hear the trains in the distance but it is that way in Europe because they have trains! Luckilly German trains are quick and basically silent until they pass so any noise at all lasts only seconds. My husband snores louder than a German train!
Prices are more than reasonable.
