My company recently had a meeting and I stayed close to the factory in Mayen, some 5 kilometeres away. The hotel was probably originally built in the 1920/30's and stands on a magnificent lake, the lake being water collected in the eye of an old volcano. Very impressive, the surrounding gardens are lush green and very well kept. Check-in was fast and efficient and the room was large, light and airy, only "complaint" was a single room contains only a single bed. Some guests get to have a double bed even if they book a single room. Being 1.89 metres tall (that's 6ft 3"" in old money:-) would have prefered the double, not to worry, single I booked, single I got. There is a small fitness area in the swimming pool portion of the hotel, 2 of the 4 machines weren't working, this I reported and they were fixed within hours, good work. Breakfast was reasonable if what limited, more than enough to satisfy the normal hunger, we ate in the restuarant in the evening that was very good. All in all a great hotel, if you're into country stuff, greenery and tress etc, then this si the place for you (and me). Definately will go back. Friendly staff always with a smile.
