Arrived at 10.30pm as a lone traveller after pretty stressful 14 hour drive from Denmark; so all I wanted was a friendly face, nice meal and peaceful sleep. Waited at reception for the barman/ checkin clerk finish chatting up a woman at the bar. Checkin grumpy, I almost felt I needed to apologise for interrupting his conversation.
Went down to bar in need of drinks and food. Ordered a glass of dry white wine. Got given a glass of the sweetest wine I'd ever drunk. Didnt even bother to comlain as his English was so bad it would be to no effect. Asked for a bar/ food menu. Got told no food. I need to walk down the road for 10 mins and there was a Kebab house!!! I am lone female traveller at 11 at night in a massive rainstorm in a country I cant communicate in- yeah right mate! Thats great advice. Wow you are so caring and streetwise. Went back to room and starved.
Room basic: No AC, no room service, no no tea and coffee tray, trouser press, one marshmellow pillow, no English speaking TV channels, smallest minibar in world consisteing of Coke and Water, hairdrier could just about manage your underarms within the hour.
Only GOOD points; its clean and.....wait for it......you have a choice of four porn movies (if that's your bag)

So, I was traveling from NY to Germany, had a long flight to Dusseldorf then a train ride to Munster and a LONG walk to the hotel from the train station. I was so tired!!! And they would NOT let me in the hotel room because there was none available and it was 6am, now every other hotel I have been early to has always accomodated me somehow, especially after a long flight like that!! But no problem, I walked around town! The hotel claims to have a washing machine, they dont?! They dont have wifi and to use their internet is pretty expensive as is there breakfast buffet but it is pretty good! Okay so trying to sleep at this place is impossible because across the adjacent street is a bar movie theatre place and these Germans stay up ALL NIGHT & ALL MORNING drinking, I have videos of the drunks outside the hotel room at 7 am, 8am, 9am, they are still everywhere!! And the people in the hotel don't speak much english, a few of the desk people did and one of the waitresses but in town nobody wanted to speak english, ESPECIALLY the busses oh my gosh what a rip off they are!! And the drivers are SO RUDE!!! We went for eurocity fest and also to see a friend. Oh and I spilled something on the sheets and notified the maids, who then brought me a chocolate bar?!? And never changed the sheets....weird. They do have a tanning bed that is expensive and totally confusing (not worth it at all). But for real, don't go here, there are nicer hotels in better areas! Would not be returning here!! Oh and the hotel staff did not want to be bothered with my questions about the trains, the manger or whomever he was pawned me off on a young kid that worked there that could not even help, I want to take a train and the manager told me I needed to rent a car because that is what he does, well hello I'm on vacation, I have never driven in Europe before?!?!

I have stayed in Tryp Hotel for about 5 times so far. its a great hotel with very good location, right opposite the harbour which has amazing restaurants, 15 min walk from the asse lake, 15min walk from the old city, next to cineplex, pubs and discs.....
rooms are very good, very decent size and great breakfast
secure, safe hotel and friendly staff

Never stay at this hotel it is a complete dump. The area surrounding it is rubbish we sat up all night as there were lots of people in the supposedly manned car park, didn't fancy getting our car stolen.

That aside our non smoking room stunk of smoke. The bathroom had a fanheater next to the sink to heat the room, so obviously we didn't put it on as we wanted to live!!

The beds didn't have mattresses just lumps of foam. Bedrroms brown and orange and nylon carpet, filthy.

Totally disgusting never go there.
