We stayed for a short trip to explore the sights of the Muensterland, and the Moevenpick was an ideal base. For me its important that they have a gym. They have a gym. dont expect the same level like you might be getting in 4-star hotels in Asia, but its there. The breakfast in the morning is great. We did not need to go for lunch afterwards. The drawback is - its great. Which means it attracts not only hotel guests but also locals to enjoy a nice weekend start. I overheard people asking for booked tables for breakfast, so it might be worth doing that as well, even if you are a hotel guest.
The hotel is located right along a lake, and it gives you the holiday atmosphere. You can easily walk into town within 15 minutes. And along the lake there are some nice eateries - have to admit, I did not have the time to try them all out.
What I found disappointing is the way they handle car parks. The parking spots right outside the hotel, on the hotel grounds are free. they tend to be occupied rather quickly, and then you have to either place your car outside the hotel compound (something I would not do in the woods at night) or park in the garage. Thats not free however, and irregardless whether you are a paying, staying guest or just have your dinner there, you have to pay for the car park. I think they should reserve free parks for guests of the hotel, and let the people just coming in for a meal use the garage.
And one more gripe - come on guys, this is 2010. Really. Internet should be free in the rooms. Every time I stay in a hotel in Germany I feel like they cant decide whether they want to be high tech or rather go back to the good old times of postal carriages.
