“Ok at scandic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2006

Stayed here during World Cup.

Very large hotel looked a bit like an office block. Stayed here as best accommodation that we could get for world cup semi at Dormund at short notice.

Was really hot and sleep was difficult, quite though and obviously convenient for nearby businesses. Little else of interest nearby.

Used bar, breakfast and bar snacks all of which were fine.

Pet hate of mine is paying for hotel parking where it is not at a premium i.e. Central London ok but here?

“Unwind at the Skandic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2004

I have been a guest at the Skandic Essen hotel on two occasions. While it's affiliation with Hilton first captured my attention, I will definitely return on future business trips. Okay, the room size is small by American standards but the hotel is an ideal place to unwind after a hectic day. The lobby, restaurant and bar have somewhat of a familiar American feel. But the German atmosphere is evident with the great indoor pool, convenenient locker room and outstanding dry sauna facility. Amenities that would cost extra in the US; here it is N/C. I would suggest a business center, however for an obvious business hotel - this is missing. Otherwise, a good choice.
