Having read some review that the apartments are more spacious and recommended by others on the review, I have especially booked the apartment even I was there for 1 night on business.

I walked from the station to the hotel, it was a short walk (less than 10mins) but wouldnt recommend if you have luggage... finally arrived at the hotel and was advised that the apartment is further down the road. i didnt know the 2 buildings are completely separate (more of thinking 2 wings within 1 building) and the apartment is really like a residential apartment without signs so you really have to look out for it.

Upon arriving into the apartment block, which there was no reception (reception was at the hotel block), i was looking for a lift as I have a 20kg luggage... but there is NONE! The lift is located on the 1st floor after climbing up 20+ narrow steps... and you can imagine how exhausted after dragging my luggage from station to hotel, then hotel to apartment... and now up the stairs!

As there is no reception there i cant leave my luggage securely then go up and take a look, so i dragged it up one step at a time and after a while finally arrived into the apartment. It was very nicely done up and if i was there for a longer period and had someone to help with luggage, i would definitely stay! However it was impossible for me to drag down my luggage in a rush next morning for appointments etc... so I called the main reception for help.

The gentleman at the reception was verrrry helpful and understood my situation, and gladly arranged another room back in the main hotel block for me. The room is smaller than the apartment block but equally as nice. It has a small terrace and room was tastefully appointed. Hotel is in a good location which you can walk around to most area on foot.

So, overall it was a wonderful experience and if i had the chance to go back to Dusseldorf I would definitely stay again at this hotel. The only cons is no wifi (EUR 5 per day which is reasonable) and the need for EUR5 for deposit if you borrow an umbrella.

This hotel was not worth the money paid. The room was OK for a city hotel, but not at all reflecting the price and
star rating of the hotel.

Negative points
1. Bed was not a double bed (as booked) but two single beds pushed together
2. Bed sheets had holes (picture)
3. Curtains had holes (picture)
4. Shower was big, but not closing correct and therefor leaking
5. Bathroom very very small, big persons will have severe problems
6. Flatscreen should be standard in 4star hotels, not a small old TV like in this room
7. Tiny elevator, two persons with luggage could not fit, kind of claustrophobic experience but at least good there was one

Positive points
1. Located in city center, small distance to Kö
2. Nice view from top floor and balkonys
3. Room was big enough

We stayed in the apartment building of the Burns Art Hotel (round the corner from the main hotel). The main hotel is difficult to find because of the maze of one-way systems and no entry signs in Dusseldorf, likewise the apartment building is only distinguishable by the frosted glass on the door.

The room was large and clean, the decor very modern and stylish and the facilities very good, big comfy bed, decent sofa, large table, safety deposit box - absolutely cannot fault it, especially given the reasonably low price (approx. £70 per room per night).

Yes the lift only goes from 1st floor to the 3rd, but why perfectly able bodied people find that a problem is beyond me, it's one flight of stairs people! There was some noise on Saturday night from the restaurant on the ground floor, but it was barely audible from the 2nd floor and non-existent on the 3rd (I would agree that a stay on the 1st floor wouldn't have been much fun that night though).

The bathroom, although very nicely finished and well equipped was the main problem, it's tiny, the door opens inwards so you can't get in the room and the shower is over the sloped end of the bath, so you can't actually stand under it. The glass shower screen was also badly positioned and not sealed at the bottom so the floor quickly flooded. To be honest though, it wasn't that much of a problem and the quality of the rest of the room more than made up for a cramped bathroom.

You could do a lot worse at this price (and we did last time we went!), so if you can deal with a flight of stairs (!), a bit of noise and a small bathroom, this is a great place to stay.

I had a brilliant time at this hotel - The staff were really friendly - the hotel itself was spotless - very convienient for the city - A 15 minute walk to the old town! Great value - would love to go again!
