Stayed at the Innside Premium Hotel in Dusseldorf one night at the end of a business trip. Thank God it was only one night. My first impression as I walked into the lobby is that this is one of those ultra-modern, super-chic places that's just trying way too had to be cool. That idea was reinforced by the desk attendant who had the requisite snotty attitude. But when I got to the room, one quick walk through confirmed my initial assessment was right on the money.
The hotel is nice enough. It is certainly clean - sterile would be a better word. Everything in the room is frosted glass or chrome. There is free internet if you plug in with a wire (can't remember the last time I had to do that), or pay through the snoot for WiFi. TV selection is basic.
Nice shower, straightforward enough water closet. The stainless sink in the bath is very stylish, but not exactly functional, as you can barely get the drinking glass under its shallow sides and low-profile faucet. Woops. The sink is so shallow, in fact, that even shaving becomes an exercise in wiping up splashed water. It looks great, but doesn't work terribly well.
The bath is one of those frosted glass walled affairs that lets you look into the room as you sit on the throne and do your business. And, glass being what it is, it allows anyone in the room an equally good view of you, sitting there doing your stuff. Looks cool, but doesn't work for everyone.
Then we come to the king bed. It's comfy enough, but the big problem is that it's a king mattress with a twin comforter on it. Looks very chic, but once again just doesn't work very well. Truth is, the only way two people could both get under this comforter at the same time would be to spoon together all night long. But when one person needs to roll over, it's game over - someone's going to be left out in the cold. I'm on my own so it's fine, but the interior decorator obviously never slept one night in this bed (and certainly never with company). True fact - I actually got out of bed to write this review. It truly is that stupid I couldn't wait till morning.
No clock anywhere in the room. Bath amenities consist of one small bottle of shampoo and a small bar of soap. That's it. One hanger in the closet. They have to be kidding me.
The hotel is, as stated, spotlessly clean, and is very well located. But I would not stay here again. Lack of amenities aside, I would rather pay a little more and have less style, but more substance. Oh - and a comforter that actually fits the bed.
Not recommended.
