Within very easy walking distance of the Old Town, the river, the trams and the railway station. The area (streets) around the hotel were clear of rubbish and litter, a very pleasant surprise.
Plenty of eateries around, of all kinds too. Prices were reasonable and the food good whichever we had. We ate across the road at a fresh Sushi restaurant. This was great and tasted far better than anything we'd had before. It was made with all fresh ingredients, right in front of us. Fabulous.
The food area in the Old Town is varied and 'entertaining' with street singers and musicians etc. The pleasant banter between restaurant staff was also made for a very enjoyable experience.
Our hotel staff were courteous and helpful. The hotel is close to town, well kept, very clean and tidy.
The bedroom spacious and bathroom was clean and well serviced.
There were mugs but no drinks facilities in the room, however, we asked at reception and got a kettle and tea bags. It was not a problem.
The hotel lift is small (only takes 2 people at a time). This was not problem but it might have been if we'd had a wheelchair user, with us. There was traffic noise (you are close to the amenities) and might be a problem for light sleepers.
We didn't mind as the many good points outweighed this potential negative.
The beer in Dusseldorf is 4.6% Alt (german for ale). This is served everywhere.and is good, although we were looking for a locally brewed smoked beer (Rauch Bier) without success. We didn't find anyone who had heard of it.
Walk, get the fresh air, good food, some Alt and you'll sleep like a log, in good beds.
Trams, trains and buses are regular and on time.
Great place, good hotel, good value for money.
