We enjoyed our stay at this hotel (which we paid for using a GiftFor2 voucher).
It's not located in the centre of Dusseldorf. Unless you're a walker and the weather is good, you'll want to take a taxi or the U-bahn to get there from the Hbf. The taxi cost us EUR 7.60 (without tip) from the main station and that was in a snowstorm. The metro is less than a euro per person. The closest station is Klever and from there you get to the hotel by walking through a small park.
I'd describe the area around the hotel as urban residential (ie typical 5 storey German buildings). In the immediate area you'll find a large grocery store, several restaurants, a Starbucks and more.
The hotel reception is efficient and gives the impression of a four-star establishment. Nice hardwoord panels in the decor.
We liked the room. Our room was surprisingly large, but we saw from the floorplan that there are smaller rooms there. So we had one of the larger rooms. The room had a fridge, a balcony, an unsupplied kitchenette, a bedside radio, soundproofing, privacy. Everything was clean and operational. The room and bathroom were not hypermodern. It's hard to assess when it was built but it must have been 20 years or so ago. It also had that feel that you get in German hotels.
The wifi cost 3 euros an hour or 10 euros for 24 hours. Once you order it, the wifi connection is excellent.
The breakfast was outstanding. Not massive, but a large selection of quality items, including things like salmon. Eggs boiled or scrambled were on offer in the buffet but other egg dishes were available on request.
There was a gym in the basement. A little more than you see in other hotels, this gym had about 15-20 weight and cardio machines. No free weights at all. We didn't work out there so I can't say anything further about it. There is also a wellness complex in the basement with three sauns or so. More than what you would expect at a hotel like this. We didn't arrive early enough to use it, but I wish we had because it looked nice. No pool.
This is a quality hotel offering a nice experience for a good price. It's a little out of the way, but I don't think that would be a problem in nice weather.
